Vizio VP42 HDTV Reviewed

Vizio VP42The Vizio VP42 HDTV is a very well priced 42-inch plasma screen offering very good image quality and colors at a very reasonable price. Plasmas often offer better value for money over LCD screens at larger sizes, but Vizio has managed to take your money even further, giving you a large screen with great quality. The Vizio VP42 offers a 1024 x 768 pixel resolution and supports both 720p and 1080i HD formats, 178 degrees viewing angle, built in NTSC, ATSC tuner and 120.4 cd/m2 brightness.
The VP42′s connections have not been cut to reduce costs either, offering 2x HDMI, 2x Component, VGA PC input and composite inputs. PCMag have reviewed the VP42 and say, the VP42 is good at preserving dark detail while maintaining realistic skin tones. Video-noise reduction was also effective without significantly softening image detail, and I was impressed with how the VP42 handled fine gradients without noticeable banding or other image artifacts.

The Vizio VP42 HDTV is a solid value for a quality HDTV. Although similarly sized LCD panels can offer up to twice the native resolution, plasma displays such as the VP42 generally perform better when displaying video containing fast motion. The Vizio VP42 also delivered excellent image contrast and color quality, and it did so at wider viewing angles than all but the most expensive LCD HDTVs can manage.
