The Sony KDL40W3000 1080p LCD HDTV is a 40-inch LCD from Sony’s latest W3000 series. The previous Sony W series (W2000) received great reviews and we can only expect better from their new range. The Sony W3000 is from Sony’s higher end of the ranges and offers some very good features and specifications. I am currently on the lookout for a new HDTV and I am being tempted between the 40-inch W3000, the Sony KDL40W3000, and the new 40-inch Samsung LE40F86BD from their Samsung F8 / F86 series.
The KDL40W3000 offers a smart brushed metal frame, which surrounds the 40-inch 1080p (1920x1080p) 10-bit LCD screen, offering the very highest HD format at a fast 8ms response time for clear motion blur free images. A Live Colour Creation back light with x.v.Colour provides even more detailed colours, along with a very high dynamic contrast ratio of 16:000:1 for great black levels and color variations. For film lovers the very latest 24p format is supported allowing playback of films at 24fps at 1080p, the exact fps at the film was originally recorded in.
Also featured on the Sony KDL40W3000 is the Bravia Engine EX which enhances image quality, with noise reduction, contrast enhancement and by quadrupling the number of pixels in a standard format source. Inputs are very healthy with a selection of 3x HDMI 1.3 inputs, 2x component, 2x scart, and the usual standard inputs. HDTVTest say, The first thing that struck me was how right the colours looked on the KDL40W3000, and presented the most realistic colours I have seen on any LCD television to date. The Black levels ranked among the very best for a non-LED-powered LCD television, with excellent shadow detail. The Sony KDL40W3000 delivered the best picture I’ve seen on an LCD TV to date.
Update: As the owner of HDTVLounge, I thought you might like to know, that I have just recently purchased this HDTV as my main TV, and I would highly recommend it to anyone, as I am more than happy with it.
