Sony kdl-40v5500The Sony KDL-40V5500 is the 40-inch model from Sony’s latest V series, the V5500. The Sony V5500 series offers a great balance between price and performance, and currently sits just under the highest end models.

With a full HD / 1080p LCD panel, the Sony KDL-40V5500 offers the highest HD format, along with a very nice sleek design, with transparent section above the bottom speakers.

The Sony Bravia KDL-40V5500 features four HDMI 1.3 inputs, one more than normal, allowing plenty of connections for future HD equipment. There is also an Ethernet port on the Sony KDL40V5500, which allows media streaming from networked PC’s via DLNA, and also Internet access and Applicast Widgets. A USB 2.0 port allows jpg, mp3 and even video file playback direct from a USB memory stick.

With the latest Bravia Engine 3 image processing, a very high dynamic contrast ratio of 60,000:1 and Live Colour the Sony KDL-40V5500 can deliver some very impressive images. TrustedReviews gave the KDL-40V5500 eight out of ten and said, the colour for instance, are startlingly good, looking sensationally rich and bright but crucially also eye-catchingly natural and believable. Dark scenes suffer less tell-tale greyness than the vast majority of rival HDTVs. In many ways, the Sony KDL-40V5500 really is a terrific HD TV. After all, for much of the time that you sit there watching it, its pictures could well have your jaw hanging open in admiration.
