The Sony W5100 series was strangely missing from the new Sony 2009 HDTV lineup at CES in January, but it’s European version did show it’s face. The latest Sony Bravia W series has now received it’s official announcement from Sony, revealing the same Ethernet / Internet connectivity as found on the already announced Z5100 and XBR9 models.
The new Sony Bravia W5100 series will be available in three sizes, as the 40-inch Sony KDL-40W5100, the 46-inch Sony KDL-46W5100, and the largest, 52-inch Sony KDL-52W5100. All three feature a 1080p / Full HD LCD panel, along with the new interactive functionality, allowing access to Sony BRAVIA Internet Video content, for a large selecting of free and premium movies, TV shows, music, and even Amazon Video on Demand, and YouTube.
As well as streaming video content the Sony W5100 series models feature BRAVIA Internet Widgets by Yahoo, allowing interaction with news, Finance, Flickr and more, all while watching TV shows. DNLA allows easy access and streaming of photos, music and videos from a networked PC. A USB 2.0 input allows the same files to be played and viewed from a USB storage device.
The Sony KDL-40W5100, KDL-46W5100, and KDL-52W5100 all feature Sony’s latest Bravia Engine 3 to deliver the highest image quality. 24p True Cinema, along with Motionflow 120Hz technology is also supported for keeping the images sharp and judder free. There is also an advanced Internet powered TV Guide feature.
Connectivity is impressive on the Sony W5100 series with 4x HDMI 1.3 inputs, PC VGA, component, composite and s-video inputs. Prices are yet unknown, but we do know they are scheduled for release this Spring.
Update: The truly massive 65-inch Sony KDL-65W5100 has been added to the lineup!
