Sony have updated their “picture frame” style HDTV range with the new Sony E5500 series. Designed to look very much like a picture frame, the stylish and slim Sony Bravia E5500 series comes in a choice of black, aluminium, and walnut effect finishes.
When the HDTV is not being watched, a special Picture Frame mode can be automatically enabled to show a selection of photos, or you can even upload and use your own.
The Sony E5500 series LCD HDTVs are available in two sizes as the 32-inch Sony KDL-32E5500, and the 40-inch Sony KDL-40E5500. There is also the Sony E5300 series, which consists of just one smaller 22-inch model, the Sony KDL-22E5300.
The E5500 models do not only look special, they both have impressive specifications also. Featuring full HD 1080p LCD panels with a very high 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, the latest Bravia Engine 3, Motionflow 100Hz with Image Blur reduction, and Live Color. These features enable the Sony E5500 series to deliver impressive image quality with vivid and natural colours, without motion blur during fast moving scenes.
All models also feature DLNA support for media streaming from a network, AppliCast for real time Internet widgets, and a USB media player. Inputs include 4x HDMI 1.3 , PC VGA, 2x component, and 2x scart. Expect to see the Sony E5500 series model available in April this year.
