Sharp has announced that it is bringing the highly anticipated Sharp Aquos D64U series range of 1080p LCDs to the US market. The Sharp D64U series consists of four LCD ranging from 42-inches to 65-inches, which have all been totally re-engineered internally and externally to be 25% slimmer and 20% light than previous product lines all while consuming even less power. Apparently the size reduction is so noticeable you should be able to place a new 42-inch D64U (LC-42D64U) in the place of where a 40-inch set would normally fit.
The D64U Aquos series consists of four 1080p (Full HD) sets, the 42-inch LC-42D64U, the 46-inch LC-46D64U, the 52-inch LC-52D64U and finally the 65-inch Sharp LC-65D64U. All look stunning and make use of Sharps 1080p (1920×1080 pixel resolution) ASV (Advanced Super View) black TFT LCD panel with a 4-wavelength backlight system to provide deeper and more vibrant colors and boasts and impressive 176 degree viewing angle. The D64U panels also have a very impressive 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for amazing color ranges and a very fast 4ms response time to keep motion blur away. The D64U’s connections are well equipped with two HDMI 1.3 inputs, component, 2x composite, s-video and PC VGA input, and RS-232C control system all at the back, and conveniently side accessible HDMI 1.3, component and composite inputs. Both the HDMI and component inputs are fully compatible with 1080p signals.
