SED TV: Canon & Toshiba Produce Ultra-Slim HDTV
Canon and Toshiba are joining forces and investing $200 billion into developing and producing a new flat screen technology called surface-conduction electron-emitter display, also known as SED which will be even slimmer than LCD and Plasma HDTVs.
SED TVs will of course be HDTV and should be ready for the public in early 2008. Many manufactures are entering the TV market as they expect this market to boom in the next few years as the trend to digital transition grows. The release of these TVs could cause a mass price drop for LCD and Plasma displays causing loss in profits of all tv manufactures.
