Samsung PS-42P7HD Reviewed

Samsung PS-42P7HDSamsung is a known leader of manufacturing LCD HDTVs but they are also one of the few who are still very much in on the plasma market. The Samsung PS-42P7HD is one of their latest plasma sets offering a large 42-inch screen with great styling as we have come to expect from their LCD line up. Connections on the PS-42P7HD are also very good with 2x HDMI inputs, 2x scart, PC VGA, s-video, component, a 9-in-2 card reader and USB inputs which support the play back of JPEG, MP3 and MPEG4 video files directly. The 1024×768 is the typical resolution for a plasma set, and the PS-42P7HD is quoted to have a contrast ratio of 10,000:1 with a brightness of 13,000 cd/m2. TrustedReviews have taken a look at the Samsung PS-42P7HD and say, good first impressions raised so far are built on steadily by the 42P7HD’s healthy-looking feature list. Kicking this off is a digital tuner, supported by all the usual 7-day electronic programme guide finery and the facility to set timer events directly from the EPG for recording.

In action, the 42P7HD is enjoyable enough, without perhaps reaching the same heights as some of Samsung’s best LCD TVs. The TV is impressively free of plasma’s common problems with fizzing noise over motion. With high definition so crucial to any serious TV these days, it’s pleasing too to see that the 42P7HD delivers really impressive levels of sharpness.
