From Samsung’s M87 range comes the well sized 40-inch LE40M87BD Full HD 1080p LCD. We have previously seen the larger 52-inch LE52M87BD get a great review from it’s looks and features, but the LE40M87BD is a much more appealing and practical size.
I currently own a 40-inch, the Sony KDL40W3000 and feel it is one of the best sizes available, and benefits from the Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, where as a smaller HDTV will not benefit so much.
The Samsung LE40M87BD (LE-40M87BD) looks great with a very nice black gloss finish with smooth round curves and angles, finished with a light strip across the bottom of the set. There is a very healthy selection of three HDMI inputs, all HDMI 1.3 for support of even more colours and auto lip synchronization of audio and video. The 40-inch screen uses Samsung’s Super Clear LCD panel, and dynamic backlighting to provide a very high contrast ratio of 15,000:1 for excellent colors and black levels.
DNIe helps to improve image quality, contrast and motion along with Movie Plus which adds extra frames between the original frames to make motion smoother and blur free. TrustedReviews say, the black levels are possibly the best we’ve seen on an LCD TV, in terms of both the sheer depth of blackness and the amount of shadow detail retained in dark areas. The simple fact is that the LE40M87BD is a well-featured TV that also happens to produce frequently excellent 40in LCD pictures, especially with HD sources, it is well worth the £800.
