Samsung HL-S6186W Review: 61-inch DLP HDTV
Samsung HL-S6186W Review: 61-inch DLP HDTVSamsung has included some impressive big-ticket features, most significantly twin-tuner circuitry. An analog NTSC tuner and an integrated ATSC tuner that handles high-definition signals let you watch a split screen and even freeze one half while you continue watching the other.
There’s also a USB 1.1 connection, a slower, older standard compared to 2.0. This will make it easy to connect up digital cameras and other media. This Samsung runs quietly, which is notable because projection models have not generally been known for their lack of noise. The overall picture display is enhanced by a 3-D Y/C digital comb filter, which seeks to eliminate dots and rainbow effects.
Samsung claims that its DLP picture does not need the kind of periodic adjustments of convergence errors that are typical of similar technologies. However, we could not verify this claim or statements that the DLP image is not bothered by image burn-in or ghosting.
Specs: 61-inch widescreen DLP HDTV with two tuners; 1,280 x 720 pixel resolution; 720p light engine with contrast ratio of 2,500:1.
summary: Great picture, great sound, great features.
