Samsung has slowly been releasing more details about their third generation blu-ray and Dual HD format players. We have found out that the two Blu-ray players announced earlier this month support 1080p at 24 or 60fps, while the BD-P2400 supports 7.1-channel audio output, and the BD-P1400 5.1 output.
The eagerly awaited dual-format Samsung BD-UP5000 has confirmed play back support of both HD formats at full 1080p HD and uncludes the impressive HQV upconversion chip which is also found in the BD-P2400. The BD-UP5000 has the same features as the BD-P2400, with Blu-ray playback at 24/60fps, Dolby Digital Plus / DTS HD support and 7.1 channel audio out. HDi and BD-J interactive specifications are full intact, while also supporting HD-DVD specific features such as picture in picture support and local storage.
The Samsung BD-UP5000 will retail for $1,049 in the fourth quarter of this year.
Update: Jan 08.Â Samsung have announced their new Duo HD (Dual format) player, the Samsung BD-UP5500.Â It will retail for $599, and will be avaliable in the second half of 08.
