Toshiba Regza 47WLT66 Review

47WLT66The Toshiba Regza 47WLT66 is the newer and bigger brother of the 42WLT66. The 47WLT66 is a 47-inch LCD with the full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels at a low price for it’s size. TrustedReviews have review the 47WLT66 and say “Connectivity is dominated by twin HDMI inputs, supported on the HD video front by a set of component jacks. Such satisfactory HD provision is, of course, no more than we’d expect from a full HD screen. The 47WLT66 also sports a D-Sub PC input, a couple of Scarts, a composite video input, and a CI slot where you can add digital TV subscription cards. It doesn’t take Einstein to work out from this slot that the 47WLT66 sports a built-in digital TV tuner.

Toshiba Regza 32WLT68 Review

Regza 32WLT68The Regza 32WLT68 is a stylish 32-inch model from the Regza WLT68 series , which also offer 37-inch (37WLT68) and 42-inch (42WLT68) models. TrustedReviews have a review of the 32WLT68, saying there’s no denying that Toshiba has done a very good job with the 32WLT68. In fact it’s difficult to believe that this TV has come from the same factory as the disappointingly dull looking 42WLT66. The screen is surrounded by a glossy black (or piano black as it’s so often referred to) bezel, which gives the set a sleek and stylish look, even when turned off.

The highlight of the connection complement is a total of three HDMI ports, while far larger and more expensive sets force you to make do with one measly HDMI, the 32WLT68 pushes the boat out and gives you three. Toshiba has also been clever with the placement of the ports with two at the rear and the third at the side.

Toshiba C2000 REGZA LCD

Toshiba C2000 REGZAThe Toshiba C2000 REGZA LCD is the more basic line of the REGZA series, compared to the Z2000, and the H2000. The C2000 line are still very nice sets, and are going to save you some money over the more advanced models if you don’t mind not having all the latest top notch features.
The C2000 feature a 1,366×768 resolution, and is available in a variety of sizes, the 42-inch 42C2000, the 37-inch 37C2000, 32-inch 32C2000, 26-inch 26C2000 and the 23-inch 23C2000.
The C2000 REGZA has very similar connections as the H2000, with two HDMI inputs, a single D4 input, two s-video, three composite, and an optical output. Unlike the H2000, the C2000 does not feature Toshiba’s iNet programing guide information software.

Toshiba H2000 REGZA LCD Line

Toshiba H2000 REGZAThe Toshiba H2000 REGZA series does not have the same high resolution as the Z2000 but still has a respectable 1366 x 768 resolution. The H2000 LCDs are available in 42-inch 42H2000, 37-inch 37H2000, and 32-inch 32H2000.
The H2000 REGZA line feature two HDMI inputs, a single D4 input, two s-video, three composite, and an optical output. These sets can get their programming guide information via the Internet from Toshiba’s iNet system. There is also a 300GB Hard drive loaded into the H2000 line internally, and can record up to 30 hours.

The H2000 range should be out late October.

Toshiba Z2000 REGZA LCD Line

Toshiba Z2000 REGZAThe Toshiba Z2000 line is 1080p and does not disappoint. The 47-inch (47Z2000), 42-inch(42Z2000), and the 37-inch (37Z2000) have a native resolution of 1920 x 1080, while the smaller 32-inch(32Z2000) Z2000 has a resolution of 1366 x 768. The Z2000 has some interesting differences regarding connection over most other HDTV’s out there. The Z2000 REGZA is equipped with three DMI ports, two D4 inputs, two S-Video, four composites, two IEEE 1394, three RF inputs and three Ethernet ports, yes three!
The Z2000 line has had a new electronic programming guide installed which looks great, and can also play files from a PC or from the new RAID-5 equipped media server, via the Ethernet connections.

Toshiba REGZA WLT68 series

REGZA WLT68The new Toshiba REGZA WLT68 series is available in three sizes – 32 (32WLT68), 37, 42inch - the new WLT68 series continues the fine tradition of the WLT66’s 100Hz image processing but makes headlines as the first sets to feature three HDMI inputs.

Having three HDMI inputs is leading the way other HDTV manufacturers should go, with the increasing number of HDMI devices out there having just on input on the TV is just not enough.

All three sizes of the REGZA WLT68 series have 1366 x 768 native resolutions so 1080i will be supported and have 500 cd/m2 brightness ratios. The smaller two have a contrast ratio of (1000:1) and the larger 42inch has a ratio of (800:1).

All REGZA WLT68 models include integrated digital tuners, three HDMI ports, Component, S-Video and PC inputs along with two SCART ports.

Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV650 HD DVD Notebook/Laptop

Qosmio G35-AV650Toshiba’s latest luxury notebook, the Qosmio G35-AV650, is the first notebook available with an HD DVD drive for playing high-definition content. We looked at a shipping unit, and we liked many of the heavy portable’s outstanding audiovisual extras. However, while HD content looked fantastic, the pricey Qosmio has some minor limitations.

The $2999 G35-AV650 uses Toshiba’s own HD DVD tray-drive, the HD TS-L802A. This combo drive serves as a 4X multiformat, double-layer DVD burner as well as an HD DVD-ROM reader. To enable HD DVD playback, the G35-AV650’s 17-inch wide-screen display has a native resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels, more than enough to support the 1080p HD format. The display also features a glossy coating to increase the viewable angle, and it gets power from two lamps instead of one for greater brightness.

We watched The Last Samurai in HD DVD on the laptop; the video looked sharp, and exhibited incredible detail and depth. (We then watched the same movie in standard definition, and found it lacking in comparison.) The Qosmio’s sound is superb as well, thanks to an integrated 1-bit digital amplifier, Harman/Kardon speakers, and Dolby Home Theater enhancements that together simulate easily discernible multichannel surround sound.

Toshiba 37WL66 37in LCD HDTV Review

Toshiba 37WL66Given how many HDMI-equipped sources could be vying for your attention over the next 12 months, we reckon pretty much every TV coming out now should have at least two HDMIs. But you’d be surprised how few do, so well done to Toshiba for managing it – especially on such an affordable TV.

The 37WL66 proudly wears the AV world’s HD Ready badge, and so it’s no surprise to find the HDMI jacks joined by a component video input for analogue HD sources like the Xbox 360. Elsewhere, meanwhile, there’s a PC socket so you can double the TV up as a computer monitor, and a pair of SCARTs.

We have to say we’d have liked a third SCART, especially as the set unusually doesn’t provide a 4-pin S-Video input. But those two HDMIs are pretty good compensation.

As you’d expect of an affordable LCD TV with an HD Ready badge, the 37WL66 boasts an HD-friendly native pixel resolution of 1,366 x 768, with other key specifications including very credible measurements of 500cd/m2 for brightness and 1000:1 for contrast ratio. Let’s just hope these measurements are less ‘fanciful’ than those of one or two rival brands we can think of…
