Sony Bravia KDL-46X2000 Review

Bravia KDL-46X2000The Sony Bravia KDL-46X2000 is the biggest set to date from Sony’s so-far exceptional new Bravia range. Second, it’s the first set to emerge from Sony’s new flagship Bravia ‘X’ Series and so comes packing a notably fuller feature set. Finally and most significantly, it’s the first TV from Sony to sport a ‘full HD’ resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels.
Few mainstream brands do classy looks better than Sony, and the 46X2000 is no exception, looking just peachy in its pitted inner and transparent outer frames.

Sony KDL-20S2500

KDL-20S2500Sony has added to their Bravia S2500 series with their smaller 20-inch KDL-20S2500 LCD. The KDL-20S2500 keeps the same classy style as the other S2500 Bravia’s just in the smaller size. The 20-inch features a 1366 x 768 resolution with a built in digital / analog tuner and includes a good selection of inputs and outputs including HDMI and VGA (for PC connection) inputs. The KDL-20S2500 will be released in Japan in November, and should make its way around the world shortly after.

Sony 52-inch 1080p Bravia’s

Bravia 1080pSony have added the KDL-52XBR2 and the KDL-52XBR3 to their Bravia line. These are both 52-inch monsters at the full 1080p resolution. They both include HDMI, component and VGA inputs, have a bulit-in ATSC tuner, and the classic “floating glass” panel look, and a 1,300:1 contrast ration. They due to ship in November. The XBR3 has a piano-black gloss finish, while the XBR2 has a silver bezel that can be changed for different colour bezels.

Sony have also added a two more LCDs to the mid range Bravias, the 32-inch KDL-32S2400 and the 40-inch KDL-40S2400. These two will be available next month, have all the standard inputs including HDMI and VGA, feature a bulit in ATSC tuner, but will not feature the full 1080p resolution

Sony KDL-40XBR2 Review

KDL-40XBR2The Sony KDL-40XBR2 LCD is loaded with features, including 1080p-pixel resolution, and enjoys solid video quality, but that’s not really the point. Its main appeal is style: It brings back the company’s floating-glass look and ups the ante further by allowing you to replace the silver bezel around the screen with other colors.

The Sony KDL-40XBR2 is also a lot wider than a 40-inch LCD needs to be, owing to its side-mounted speakers and overall over-bezeling. Including the stand, the set measures 43.8 wide by 28.3 high by 12.8 deep and weighs 77 pounds. Of course you can also ditch the stand and, instead, wall-mount the panel; Sony’s official kit for that purpose is the SU-W51, although the right non-official kit may do the trick.

Sony Bravia V-Series

Sony Bravia V-SeriesThe Sony Bravia V-Series is a breakthrough in the art of colour reproduction. Exclusive Sony Live Colour Creation technology opens up the spectrum of colours on the screen to breathtaking effect. Significant boosts in the range of red and green in the picture brings what you see closer to the true colours of nature than ever before. “Reds and greens are the most difficult colours to reproduce on LCD screens - and they are vital,” says Andreas Ditter, Director, TV Operations Europe. “The challenge in creating a picture that people instinctively see as realistic is how to reproduce true, lively reds and greens while faithfully reproducing what we call “memory colors,” like human skin tones. That’s why Live Colour Creation is such an important part of what makes the V-Series special.”
