The 56-inch Philips Cinema 21:9 56PFL9954H HDTV is revolutionary different from every other TV before, for one simple reason, it’s aspect ratio. Ordinary widescreen HDTVs have an aspect ratio of 16:9, where as the Philips 56PFL9954H has an aspect ratio of 21:9, making it much wider, as can be clearly seen in the photos.

Many people who by a widescreen HDTV are disappointed to find black bars at the top and bottom on most of their movies. This is because most films are shot using a wider aspect ratio, perfectly matching that of the new Philips 56PFL9954H. Movies viewed on the 56PFL9954H fill the screen fully, with no black bars.

The Philips 56PFL9954H features a 200Hz refresh rate to keep the images sharp and judder free, and Philips’ latest Ambilight Spectra 3 technology, which extends the light out behind the HDTV to create a more immersive effect.

Philips Perfect Pixel HD engine is used, which resizes the input source to fit the Philips 56PFL9954H’s 2560 x 1080 pixel resolution. TrustedReviews say it does it very well, and even though there are no 21:9 aspect ratio blu-ray movies currently available, they look great on the Philips 56PFL9954H. They gave the 56PFL9954H a great nine out of then rating and said, Philips’ video processing powers have turned out to be beyond reproach if you’re careful with a couple of basic settings, leaving you to enjoy a TV experience that’s so cinematic it has to be seen to be believed.
