Philips Aurea 42PFL9900DThe Philips 42PFL9900D is an HDTV which had a large amount of rumors around it’s self before it was even announced. This is because it was the first HDTV to feature the new improved version of the very popular Ambilight feature, now called Philips Aurea. This Aurea feature was rumored to be featured on the Philips Aurea 42PFL9900D, and it turned out to be very true.

There was a lot of speculation around the Philips 42PFL9900D due to the high popularity of Ambilight, people couldn’t wait to see the new and improved version, and boy, was it worth the wait. The Aurea feature / effect creates and amazing light show around the frame of the set, which not only looks great, it reduces eye strain and makes you feel closer to the movie. A 1080p (1920×1080 pixel) LCD screen offer the highest HD format, with a high brightness of 550cd/m2, a 8000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for vivid colours and deep black levels, and a high 176 degree viewing angle for a great picture where every you are in the room. A high 100Hz refresh rate ensures crisp images during high motion scenes without judder.

Philips Perfect Pixel HD Engine and the set does an amazing job at processing standard definition content, upconverting it to 1080p, reducing noise and tweaking contrast and colours to make the image look much better, and true HD content looks amazing. Deep black levels make blacks truly look black, and colours very vivid and sharp. Inputs includes three HDMI 1.3, 2x component, 2x scart and a USB port for viewing jpg photos and mp3 playback.
