With Pioneer closing it’s doors on HDTV production, and stepping down as the plasma king, people looking for a great plasma might be interested in the new Panasonic Z1 series.
Panasonic’s most advanced plasma HDTV, the Z1 series is available in only one size and model, as the 54-inch Panasonic TC-P54Z1. I will start off with the most interesting point, the price. The Panasonic TC-P54Z1 is set to set you back a massive $5,999, and with the state of the current economy, we’re quiet sure the TC-P54Z1 is a niche product.
Money aside, the Panasonic TC-P54Z1 does indeed look and sound like a great HDTV. With a very slim 1-inch thick design, a lower power consuming 1080p Neo PDP panel, and high native contrast ratio of 40,000:1.
Other features include 24p Cinematic playback, Digital Cinema Color gamut, THX Certification, and a swivel table stand if wall mounting is not your thing.
A wireless HDMI receiver is included with the separate tuner / media unit, which wirelessly sends digital audio and video to HDTV. Panasonic VIERA Link Internet connectivity and SD card reader for photos and AVCHD playback is also supported.
Look out for the Panasonic TC-P54Z1 Z1 this June, if your wallet can take it. It is currently available on Amazon with 33% off for $3,997.
