Samsung Expects Bigger OLED displays Next Year

Samsung OLEDWe have been seeing OLED displays from both Sony with their 11-inch Sony XEL-1, and Samsung’s 14 and 32-inch offerings from this years CES, but no idea with regards to production dates on the medium to large sizes. Samsung’s VP Marketing are now saying that medium and large OLED displays for monitors, HDTVs and laptops should appear on the market in 2009 and 2010. Read more

Samsung’s 31-inch Organic Display Screen

Samsung have announced that they have developed a 31-inch ultra thing organic (OLED) screen. This is great news to hear, as they are pushing the technology further, which we will hopefully soon see in modern HDTVs. Read more


There is a new technology on the way that we should see available in HDTV and other screens, along with Laser HDTV, called OLED. OLED (Organic light-emitting diode) displays as a brand new technology with several clear advantages over current LCD and plasma displays. Firstly OLED displays are much more energy efficient (as much as 40% more efficient) than LCDs, also they are even thinner than LCD TVs as there is no backlight required. Read more
