Toshiba XD-E500 XDE DVD Player

Toshiba XD-E500Toshiba has tuned its attention away from the now defunct HD-DVD to good old DVD. Toshiba has brought life back to DVDs by announcing the Toshiba XD-E500 XDE DVD Player. The XD-E500 is no ordinary DVD player, or even upscaling DVD player, the Toshiba XD-E500 is the first XDE or “Extended Detail Enhancement” DVD player. Toshiba are tapping into the millions of people out there with an existing collection of DVDs, who want to get the very best out of them.

Toshiba say that the XDE technology in the Toshiba XD-E500 take upconversion to a whole new level by upconverting from standard DVD resolution, 480p to 720p or 1080i/p while adding a whole host of picture enhancing features. XDE also provides user selectable picture enhancing modes to provide greater control in detail and sharpness along with more vivid colors and stronger contrast bringing DVD quality nearer to HD standards.

HD connections are featured to deliver the higher quality over the best connections including component and HDMI 1.3. The 1080p/24fps (24p) supporting Toshiba XD-E500 DVD player also supports DivX certification, JPEG capability, MP3 and WMA playback in a slim glossy unit.

If you want the very best from your DVDs on your HDTV then I would highly recommend a look at the Toshiba XD-E500. Expect to see it avaliable for $150 in September.
