Blockbuster chooses Blu-ray Format

Bad news for HD-DVD devotees, player owners and Toshiba, Universal and others, rental giant Blockbuster has chosen Blu-ray over HD-DVD. Blockbuster have decided to stock only Blu-ray discs in the majority of it’s nationwide stores. They will still offer HD DVD titles online and in 250 of their stores that they have been testing both formats.
This move in the HD format war apparently stemmed from the overwhelming customer preference for Blu-ray discs, apparently accounting for over 70% of all HD discs rented. We believe this is because of huge films such as Spiderman and Pirates of the Caribbean films appearing on Blu-ray formats only, and also from the huge number of Blu-ray capable PS3 owners.
