Samsung have announced that they have developed a 31-inch ultra thing organic (OLED) screen. This is great news to hear, as they are pushing the technology further, which we will hopefully soon see in modern HDTVs.
Earlier this year Sony began selling only a small 11-inch OLED TV, and have showed off a 27-inch prototype. OLED offers brighter images and used less power than conventional LCD TVs. We can expect to see the new 31-inch Samsung OLED screen in January at CES, and plan on mass-producing a 14-inch screen in 2008.
The 31-inch OLED is just one-tenth the thickness of a regular LCD panel at just 4.3 mm and needs less than half the electricity.
