On sale in Korea in just over 15 days from now, LG will release their new “Xcanvas” plasmas, the LG 50PQ60D and 42PQ60D. The 50-inch and 42-inch two new “XCanvas” plasmas have a very high contrast ratio of an almost unbelievable 1,000,000,000:1 (thats 1 billion) and refresh rates of 600MHz.
The chances are, if you’re reading this, you are not from Korea, so won’t get these in 15 days. But there is good news, a FFC filing for these model names outed the sets back in December, so we should hopefully see these sets in the U.S shortly.
With an ambient light sensor, the LG 50PQ60D and LG 42PQ60D automatically adjust the backlight level to produce a better image and save up to 60% of energy. Connectivity is very good with four HDMI 1.3 inputs, and a USB 2.0 input which can be used to play video files such as WMV and DivX, image files and audio files such as MP3s, directly from a memory sticj or external USB hard drive.
The converted price for the 50-inch LG 50PQ60D is $1500, while the 42-Inch LG 42PQ60D is $1,020.
As you can see from the photo, the LG XCanvas plasmas look great, with a new all in one panel and speaker design, at just 76.8mm thick.
