LG has been very busy and have announced 12 new HDTV ranges for 2009. Just announced today at this year’s CES, LG have announced nine new LCD HDTV ranges, and three plasma ranges. Covering a large range from a small 19-inches all the way up to 60-inches.
Many of these new HDTVs from LG feature LED backlighting for improved contrast and energy saving, TruMotion 240Hz and wireless technology. The LG LH50, and LG PS80 series feature LG’s NetCast Entertainment Access technology for “Broadband HDTVs”. With Ethernet access providing information and content directly via the Internet. With partners such as Yahoo, Netflix and YouTube providing plenty of content.
The LG LHX and LG LH85 series have wireless technology, removing annoying cables, and provide easier installation. All models meets Energy Star 3.0 specifications. All of LG’s LCD HDTVs use Super In Plane Switching (S-IPS) LCD panel structure for faster response times and better colors, contrast and viewing angles.
LG’s new top of the range LCD model is the LG LHX which only comes in one size, at 55-inches, called the LG 55LHX. The LHX is super slim, LED backlit, and wireless, and is a CES 2009 Innovations honoree. At less than 1-inch thick, and powered by a full array of LED backlights with local dimming for improved contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1. The full HD 1080p sets features TruMotion 240Hz. Full HD uncompress wireless transmission comes from a media box, eliminating cables.
Up second is the LG LH90 series which consists of three sizes, the 42-inch LG 42LH90, the 47-inch LG 47LH90 and the largest, 55-inch LG 55LH90. The LH90 models have the exact same features and functionalities of the LHX series (described above), but in a traditional all in one unit, without a separate set top box, and additional sizes. Wireless is not mentioned, but the bottom left of the HDTV image shows “Wireless” text.
The LG LH85 series features Full HD 1080p wireless technology, sending uncompressed 1080p transmission from a separate media box, eliminating messy cables, and makes for easier wall mounting. The LH85 will be available in two sizes, as the 47-inch LG 47LH85, and as the 55-inch LG 55LH85.
Features include TruMotion 120Hz, 24p Real Cinema, 4x HDMI 1.3 inputs, an Intelligent Sensor, USB 2.0, LG Simplink and Smart Energy Saving Plus technology.
The LG LH55 series has a Full HD / 1080p LCD panel with a scanning backlight, and will be available in four sizes from 37-inches, to 55-inches, with the following model names. The 37-inch LG 37LH55, 42-inch LG 42LH55, 47-inch LG 47LH55, and the 55-inch LG 55LH55.
LG’s latest TruMotion 240Hz technology is featured on the LG LH55 series models, which improves motion handling by eliminating image judder, and improving image detail in high action scenes. Other features include 24p Real Cinema, 4x HDMI 1.3 inputs, Intelligent sensor, USB 2.0, and Smart Energy Saving Plus.
The last of the LG LH ranges is the LG LH50 series which consist of the 42-inch LG 42LH55, and the 47-inch LG 47LH55. Both have a Full HD 1080p LCD panel and are LG’s first HDTVs with Ethernet connectivity and NetCast Entertainment Access, allowing the HDTV to access and view content and video, with out a computer. This includes Netflix Instant Streaming, YouTube, Yahoo! Widgets and photos and music on a networked PC.
As well as the cool Internet features, the LG LH50 has TruMotion 120Hz technology, 24p Real Cinema, 4x HDMI 1.3 inputs, USB 2.0, Smart Energy Saving Plus and an Intelligent Sensor.
Moving along the LH range we get to the LG LH40 series. The LG40′s feature a Full HD 1080p LCD panel, and are available in fives sizes from 32-inch to 55-inch, as the following models. The 32-inch LG 32LH40, 37-inch LG 37LH40, 42-inch LG 42LH40, 47-inch LG 47LH40 and the 55-inch LG 55LH40.
With TruMotion 120Hz and a S-IPS technology motion blur is reduced for better viewing during high motion scenes. Other features include 24p, 3x HDMI 1.3, Intelligent Sensor, USB 2.0 and Smart Energy Saving Plus.
Simply put, the LG LH30 is a Full HD / 1080p LCD HDTV which features LG’s four core technologies in a simple and stylish form. Available in four sizes as the 32-inch LG 32LH30, 37-inch LG 37LH30, 42-inch LG 42LH30, and the 47-inch LG 47LH30. Other features include Invisible speakers, 24p, HDMI 1.3, USB 2.0 and Smart Energy Saving technology.
The final installment of the LG LH models is the LG LH20 series. The LH20′s have a 720p HD resolution and are available in a wide range of sizes. From the smallest 19-inch LG 19LH20, 22-inch LG 22LH20, 26-inch LG 26LH20, 32-inch LG 32LH20, 37-inch LG 37LH20, to the largest 42-inch LG 42LH20.
The 32-inch model and above feature the LG Core technologies, and LG SimpLink, while all feature 2x HDMI 1.3 inputs, and Smart Energy Saving.
The LG LU55 is a stylish LCD HDTV covering the smaller size range, and is ideally suited fro a home office, kitchen or bedroom. The modern and transparent design looks great. The smallest 19-inch model, the LG 19LU55, has a 720p HD resolution, while the other larger models have a Full HD 1080p resolution. The 22-inch model will be known as the LG 22LU55, while the largest 26-inch model is called the LG 26LU55.
LG 2009 plasma HDTVs
The three new plasma HDTV series from LG have improved brightness, reduced reflectivity, and fast 600Hz smooth motion response times for great viewing. The LG PS60, and PS80 also feature THX Display Certification, for accurate picture reproduction.
The new top of the range plasma HDTV from LG is the LG PS80 series, which is available as the 50-inch LG 50PS80, and the 60-inch LG 60PS80. Both have a Full HD 1080p resolution and HX Display Certification and THX Cinema Mode.
The LG PS80 is LG’s first plasma HDTV with NetCast Entertainment Access and Ethernet connectivity. This allows you to access content and video on the HDTV without a computer. With content from Netflix Instant Streaming, YouTube and Yahoo Widget their is plenty of content. Other features include 600Hz Smooth Motion, 4x HDMI 1.3 inputs, USB 2.0, THX Media Director and a Super Bright Panel.
The middle of the range plasma HDTV from LG is the LG PS60 series. Available as the 50-inch LG 50PS60, and as the 60-inch LG 60PS60. Both have Full HD 1080p Super Bright Panels, 600Hz Smooth Motion and THX Display Certification and THX Cinema Mode. Other features include 4x HDMI 1.3 inputs, USB 2.0, Smart Energy Saving technology and LG SimpLink Connectivity.
The third and final plasma series, and the last in the list of 12 new HDTVs from LG is the LG PQ30 series. Available in two sizes, as the 42-inch LG 42PQ30, and as the 50-inch LG 50PQ30.
Offering high quality large plasma HDTVs at a great price, the 720p plasma models feature 600Hz Smooth Motion technology and three HDMI 1.3 inputs. Other features include USB 2.0, Auto Volume Leveler II, LG Core Technologies, and Smart Energy Saving technology.
