Sony Bravia V-Series

Sony Bravia V-SeriesThe Sony Bravia V-Series is a breakthrough in the art of colour reproduction. Exclusive Sony Live Colour Creation technology opens up the spectrum of colours on the screen to breathtaking effect. Significant boosts in the range of red and green in the picture brings what you see closer to the true colours of nature than ever before. “Reds and greens are the most difficult colours to reproduce on LCD screens - and they are vital,” says Andreas Ditter, Director, TV Operations Europe. “The challenge in creating a picture that people instinctively see as realistic is how to reproduce true, lively reds and greens while faithfully reproducing what we call “memory colors,” like human skin tones. That’s why Live Colour Creation is such an important part of what makes the V-Series special.”

Key to broadening the spectrum of colour the screen displays, or widening its ‘colour gamut’, is the V-Series’ specially redesigned backlight. The new Wide Colour Gamut (WCG) CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) is an exclusive Sony design employing improved light-emitting phosphors originally developed for the Trinitron CRT. These actively extend the red and green spectrum components the backlight emits. Matched with precisely optimised RGB filters within the LCD itself, the WCG-CCFL completely transforms the characteristics of the screen. Live Colour Creation also relies in part on the remarkable power of the BRAVIA ENGINE to enhance signals, even HDTV, before it actually appears on the screen. The intensive real-time frame-by-frame digital processing carried out by the BRAVIA ENGINE visibly enhances colour and contrast and cleans up noise in the signal which could result in imperfections in the picture.
