Onkyo DV-HD805

Onkyo DV-HD805Onkyo have been a HD-DVD supporter since before the format’s launch last April, but Onkyo hasn’t given us anything to see from them. Untill now that is, The Onkyo DV-HD805 HD-DVD player has been announced for release this autumn. Apparently the Onkyo DV-HD805 is based on the Toshiba top of the line HD-XA2 player with a few extra tweaks. It is always great to see new players on the market, we just hope this not just a simple re-badge of the XA2. Onkyo has stated that they officially support both HD formats, but we are unsure if Blu-ray will make it into this model. We do know that the DV-HD805 will have excellent audio performance in mind, and expect it to have HDMI 1.3 as well as DTS-HD Master Audio support.

Update: It has been announced that the Onkyo DV-HD805 HD DVD player will features HDMI 1.3a outputs along with 24p support, and will indeed include Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD audio.  The player will also upscale your old DVDs by the use of the HQV Reon VX video processor, and features an Ethernet port for internet enabled HD DVD content and firmware updates.
