Not only has Sharp announced four new LCD HDTV ranges, they have also announced the Sharp BD-HP50U blu-ray player. The BD-HP50U is Sharp’s second generation Blu-ray player, and supports the Blu-rau profile 1.1 along with DB-Live. Secondary audio and video decoders provide picture in picture capability, and a USB terminal provides access to a local storage device.
The Sharp BD-HP50U can output full 1080p HD via HDMI 1.3 port along with multi-channel audio output by decoding DTS HD, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus. 1080p / 24p (24 frames per second) output is also supported, providing the true fps output for the very best film experience. Unlike some other blu-ray players, the BD-HP50U features a quick start feature that allows playback to Blu-ray films in a touch of a button in less than 10 seconds.
The Sharp BD-HP50U does not comes cheap at a recommended price of $799, but it does have a lot of modern features for 2008. It will be available in Spring 2008.
