We first saw the LG BD390 blu-ray player first announced at this years CES. Today LG and DivX have officially made the LG BD390 available, calling it the worlds first blu-ray disc player which is capable of playing back 1080p HD Divx video files.
Available today in the United States and Europe, it can playback HD DivX video files from burnt DVD, USB flash drives and also streamed directly over a network va DLNA server.
Unlike most other new blu-ray players which require a USB dongle, the LG BD390 features built in 802.11n WiFi, allowing users to stream media, including .mkv flavored DivX HD files wirelessly over the network, with out trailing Ethernet cables across the floor.
LG say that users can fit 2 hours of high quality DivX HD video on an 8GB media card. The LG BD390 can of course stream other media besides the HD DivX format, along with playing back blu-ray movies.
The LG BD390 is also a highend blu-ray players with the latest DB-Live suport / blu-ray profile 2.0, along with 7.1 channel audio output and 1GB of internal memory and a USB 2.0 port.
Update: The BD390 will gain VUDU on-demand movie streaming support at the end of September via a free firmware update. It will be the first blu-ray player to access VUDU’s growing library and film rentals.
